Sonia Ruscoe is a painter and poet from and based in NY. edu. CUNY Brooklyn College. Her practice found a community in upstate New York and showed at such Hudson Valley institutions as September Gallery, The Church in Troy, Mothership, Green County Council of the Arts, and a solo show following a residency at Basilica Hudson in 2019. Currently based in Brooklyn, Sonia has shared work within groups in NYC and Los Angeles, and participated in a ritual in Richmond, VA wherein works were thrown into a pit in the ground and burned. She has also participated in residencies in Catalonya and in Crete. She is drawn toward unconventional space, localized community accessibility and an element of delightful confusion when making and showing her work and in her curatorial efforts.
